Scientific and Engineering Oscar (Technik und Wissenschafts-Oscar)
Besides the yearly film award the US Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, AMPAS, also honors artisans whose contributions have made it possible for the movie industry to exist and evolve.
On February 7, 2009 Volker Schumacher received one of the most prestigious honours in the film industry, a Scientific and Engineering Award from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) for the optical development of the ARRIMAX 18/12 HMI.
AMPAS distinguished Volker Schumacher, CEO of opsira GmbH and Head of the Optical Engineering Group, for the optical concept, optical development, simulations and optimisation of the reflector.
